We’ve all been patiently (or not-so patiently) awaiting the arrival of the much-anticipated Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In. Now, after earning impressive sales in the UK and Europe, it might finally be our turn to get our hands on the incredibly efficient and capable Outlander Plug-In. Better late than never, right?

According to reports, the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In U.S. launch date is scheduled for mid-year, possibly as early as May of 2016.

According to Automotive News, Mitsubishi CEO Osamu Masuko has made it clear that the automaker will focus its resources on a “more compact” lineup following the closing of its only U.S. assembly plant. Mitsubishi will focus on the U.S. availability of the Outlander Plug-In in 2016, along with several new models, including a new small coupe-styled crossover (late 2017), a redesigned Outlander (after 2017), and a next-generation Outlander Sport (possibly for 2019).

“We are strong in SUVs and four-wheel drives. And that is what we would like to focus on as core models in the U.S. market. We have changed direction,” Masuko said to autonews.com. “We are going to allocate more resources to the areas where we are strong in the U.S.”

Look for the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In to be available at Bell Mitsubishi and dealerships nationwide next year!
