Staten Island

After you’ve gotten a month or so into summer, it can be hard to cook up ideas for outdoor activities for families. That’s why we at Bell Mitsubishi have a few suggestions for what to do around Staten Island.

Historical Homes and Architecture

The 267-acre Conference House Park is not only beautiful, but contains four historic buildings. Other attractions like Fort Wadsworth, the Alice Austen House, and the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum are sure to interest history buffs. New York City’s only historical village – Historic Richmond Town – is sure to delight you and your family with period costumes and an authentic cultural experience.

Staten Island Zoo

Who doesn’t love animals? Come see all sorts of critters at the local zoo, ranging from the cute and friendly to the unusual and dangerous. Plus, it can be educational for the little ones.

Biking and Hiking

Staten Island offers visitors and residents alike a variety of scenic, green spaces, preserved for your enjoyment. Many of the parks in the area have well-maintained trails on which you can hike or bike. Just remember to bring snacks!

Kayaking

A more unusual and unique way to explore the beautiful sights of Staten Island, kayaking can be fun for the whole family. Slather on some sunscreen, rent a kayak or two from a local rental shop, and head out for a peaceful day on the water.

Whether you’re exploring the local town or headed out into the wild, Staten Island provides plenty of outdoor activities for families.
