2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

After much anticipation, we are proud to announce that the new 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is available here at Bell Mitsubishi.

After much anticipation, we are proud to announce that the new 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is available here at Bell Mitsubishi. The very first shipment of Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross models arrived on the West Coast last month and began distribution to Mitsubishi dealerships across the country, including here in Rahway, New Jersey.

The 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is the second all-new model to join the Mitsubishi lineup in just a matter of months. Late last year, the all-new 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV arrived on our lot at Bell Mitsubishi.

The new Eclipse Cross is a compact CUV that packs a powerful punch from its 1.5-liter direct-injection turbo-engine. Available in a wide range of fun colors like Red Diamond and Octane Blue Metallic, the Eclipse Cross aims to stand out from the competition. Key features like the dual-pane power-sliding panoramic roof, the seven-inch smartphone link thin display audio with touchpad controller, heated rear seats, MITSUBISHI CONNECT, and the Head-Up Display help it in that mission.

“2018 represents an exciting next chapter for Mitsubishi Motors, and the all-new Eclipse Cross is a large part of that story,” remarked Don Swearingen, executive vice president and chief operating officer, MMNA. “The Eclipse Cross builds on the strong Mitsubishi heritage of automotive performance, technology and fun-to-drive dynamics revived in a CUV. We’re excited to add the Eclipse Cross to our established CUV lineup and know it will continue to fuel the brands current sales momentum.”

Mitsubishi Considered Fastest Growing Non-Luxury Car Brand in 2017

Non-Luxury Car Brand

Mitsubishi Motors recently became the fastest growing, non-luxury car brand in the United States in 2017. The Japanese carmaker saw a year-over-year sales increase of 7.7% in 2017.

Mitsubishi Motors recently became the fastest growing, non-luxury car brand in the United States in 2017. The Japanese carmaker saw a year-over-year sales increase of 7.7% in 2017. This increase makes last year the fifth year in a row that the brand has gone up in sales.

“2017 was a challenging year for the industry,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Mitsubishi Motors North America. “Mitsubishi’s CUV lineup posted banner sales, up 15% over 2016.”

The three-row Mitsubishi Outlander had its best sales year ever in 2017. It sold a total of 35,310 vehicles, which was an increase of 32.9% over 2016. The Outlander Sport, which is the Outlander’s smaller, sportier sibling, also saw a big December sales month with an increase of 47.1% over December 2016, and a total of 33,160 sales.

For 2018, it doesn’t look like these sales will slow down much. With the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV delivering SUV capabilities and EV fuel economy and the all-new 2018 Eclipse Cross joining the crossover lineup, Mitsubishi is positioned to continuing selling well in the new year.

You can see the all-new Eclipse Cross at Bell Mitsubishi starting in March. Until then, come check out the Outlander PHEV which has just arrived at our showroom here at Mitsubishi Motors.

New 2018 Outlander PHEV Design Has Fast-Charging System

2018 Outlander PHEV Design

The 2018 Outlander PHEV design is sporty, efficient, and—above all—it’s high tech. The latest version of Mitsubishi’s iconic plug-in hybrid vehicle now comes with the CHAdeMO fast-charging port. One of the major setbacks of owning a plug-in vehicle (whether hybrid or all-electric) is the charge time. However, the latest Outlander PHEV lets you recharge in approximately 20 minutes.

The Outlander PHEV charges the 12kWh battery in an incredibly quick time, though you can still charge with an old-fashioned 110V outlet if you prefer. The CHAdeMO fast-charging port technology is typically seen on hybrid-electric models that cost over $75,000, which makes the Outlander PHEV considerably more competitive thanks to its affordable pricing.

Most drivers who have shorter commutes—less than 40 miles roundtrip—can use the Outlander PHEV for a gasoline-free drive to and from work. Overall electric usage could account for the majority of the car’s energy consumption.”

For drivers looking for a practical way to go green, the new Outlander PHEV may be the right option. Thanks to the CHAdeMO charging system you don’t need to wait around all day for energy; however, there’s always reliable gasoline power when you need it. Staten Island Museums — the Perfect Places for One More Summer Memory

Historic Richmond Town
Summer might be on its way out, but there is still plenty of time to load the kids into your trusty Mitsubishi and pay a visit to one of the many exceptional Staten Island museums. The many curiosity-inducing, family-friendly museums and historical centers are the perfect places to have some fun and get your kids back in the mood for learning before they head back to school.

Here are a few of our all-time favorite Staten Island attractions:

Fort Wadsworth

Located right in Tompkinsville, Fort Wadsworth is one of the oldest military forts in the United States. This daunting stronghold used to be impossible to enter (especially if you happened to be British in the 18th-century), but nowadays it’s easy to access: Fort Wadsworth has free admission and is open dawn to dusk.

Historic Richmond Town

This collection of 28 landmarked buildings lets kids and adults alike live like they’re back in the late 1600s, using 17th-century tools and exploring the oldest schoolhouse in America. Richmond Town is open from 1:00 to 5:00 pm, Wednesday to Sunday, with daily guided tours at 2:00 and 3:30 pm.

Staten Island Children’s Museum

Staten Island Children’s Museum is the ideal spot to let your kids run wild to explore and learn. With ultra-fun exhibits and activities, like a real fire truck, insect house, and a functioning foghorn to toot in the Sea of Boats, there’s zero chance of boredom here!

All-Season Tires vs. Summer Tires

summer tires in water

Winter tires are a popular option during the colder months, but one of the most rarely talked about kinds of tire is the summer tire. So what are summer tires, and what are the benefits of them?

“Summer tires” is kind of a misnomer. While summer tires aren’t ideal for winter, they’re great in spring, summer, and fall. They’re better at driving on wet and resisting hydroplaning than all-season tires, but they have little to no grip in the snow.

On the other hand, all-season tires, which most cars come pre-equipped with now, are mostly fine throughout the year, but they’re a compromise—they don’t perform as well during spring, summer, and fall as summer tires, and they don’t perform as well in winter as winter tires. If you don’t want to spend the money or take the extra time to switch over to winter tires when it gets cold, all-season tires are a good choice.

If you do want to take the time out, though, consider switching your all-season tires out for summer tires. You’ll experience better traction in the rain thanks to the softer grip, and when the cold weather hits, just spend an hour putting your winter tires on. You’ll be amazed how much better your car does in the snow with them!

2017 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV First Drive Reviews

Mitsubishi Motors logo

Mitsubishi first announced that the plug-in hybrid version of its popular mid-size crossover would be coming to the US in January of last year, and though it hasn’t debuted in the US just yet, first-drive reviews of the 2017 model are rolling in. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is set to go on sale in the States sometime this summer.

The Outlander PHEV has been a smash hit in Europe and Australia, ranking as the best-selling electric car in Europe since its release in 2013. Recently released in Australia, the new Outlander PHEV has received a big styling refresh as well as engineering updates for better fuel economy and performance.

First drive reviews report that the Outlander PHEV comes with plenty of standard features on its base LS trim, including a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry and start, and more. The luxurious Exceed trim offers features like heated seats and a power liftgate.

The 2017 Outlander PHEV adds fast-charging as well as an EV mode, whereas previously it was only available in a hybrid drive mode. The all-electric mode is nearly silent, according to reviewers, and it brings in gasoline power when needed for big bursts of speed or as the battery power gets low.

2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Named IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus

The 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander, Mitsubishi’s popular 7-passenger crossover utility vehicle, has been named an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus for the fourth year in a row when equipped with the optional Touring Package.

The IIHS, or Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, is a leading auto safety agency that tests vehicles for crashworthiness in various areas, including small overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints. Ratings of “good” in all five tests are required to be named a Top Safety Pick, while a Top Safety Pick Plus has to earn a rating of “advanced” or “superior” for front crash prevention in addition to “good” crash test ratings.

The new Outlander is competitively priced at $23,495 and includes a wide array of safety features like stability control and tire pressure monitoring at the base level, with active safety features like Forward Collision Mitigation and Pedestrian Detection available at the highest SEL trim, which goes for only $29,495—still much less than competitors.

Mitsubishi North America’s executive vice president and COO said in a statement that the company is “committed to safety and providing the best value for our customers” and went on to say that the Outlander’s safety features have been expanded upon even since the 2016 model year. There’s never been a better time to buy a Mitsubishi Outlander, so make sure to check out Bell Mitsubishi for all of your Outlander needs!

Rahway Prevention Coalition Partners with Real Estate Company to Lessen Drug Access

In March of 2015, the Rahway Prevention Coalition was launched after a $625,000 Drug Free Communities Support Grant was awarded to the city to aid in the prevention of drug use and abuse. The coalition serves the community by implementing education opportunities, marketing campaigns, and policy changes to combat drug addiction.

The grant, which was awarded in 2014 and will give $125,000 to the coalition annually over five years, has been proven to reduce youth drug use in other communities, according to data from the White House Office of National Drug Control.

In mid-December, The Rahway Prevention Coalition announced that it will partner with Remax 1st Advantage, a New Jersey-based branch of the expansive real estate company Remax. 1st Advantage agents work in and around Rahway, which encouraged them to bring the coalition to the attention of owner and operator Susan Bakes.

Spearheaded by agent Wendy Christow, Remax 1st Advantage organized the partnership in order to obtain pill pods, which reduce prescription drug theft and use by real estate clients who are viewing homes for sale. Pill pods require a combination to open, preventing people touring the homes from taking homeowners’ pills from their medicine cabinets.

The Prevention Coalition has done fantastic things for the community, and the partnership with Remax will further reduce access to drugs in Rahway and surrounding areas.

Mitsubishi Outlander Sales Hit 1.5 Million

In the automotive world, sometimes what starts with a humble beginning becomes the inspiration for innovation and fresh design. Such is the case with the Mitsubishi Outlander, the best selling, most popular vehicle in the Mitsubishi lineup. The Outlander is celebrating having recently hit 1.5 million in sales. These are sales that occurred over three generations of the Outlander, making this crossover the most successful Mitsubishi model.

The Mitsubishi Outlander was first introduced in 2000, and launched in the U.S. in 2001. Mitsubishi marketed it as an “Active Sports Crossover.” This was the first time that the term “crossover” was used to categorize a special type of in-between vehicle. Now that crossovers are on the rise as the fastest-growing type of vehicle in America, it’s clear that the Outlander paved the way for a new era in design and utility.

That was then, with the first generation Mitsubishi Outlander. The third and current generation has become the face of Mitsubishi and continues to lead car design into new territory. The Outlander is known well for its PHEV version, the best selling plug-in hybrid in the world. As Nissan and Mitsubishi move forward in their recent partnership, it’s likely that they will be introducing more in the way of green energy, which is something to look forward to. Though even as Mitsubishi Outlander sales hits 1.5 million and the car evolves into newer generations, it yet keeps the fun, sporty and fresh style that gave the crossovers their inspiration.
