After the Mitsubishi PHEV took over the Chicago Auto Show, we hope to see the other new Mitsubishi Outlander at the upcoming New York International Auto Show! Mitsubishi has been promoting “Come See the New Face of Mitsubishi Motors” as a teaser to create some anticipation for the updated model.
Some changes we could possibly see on the 2016 Outlander include a refreshed front fascia and new rear end. Some spy shots of the new Outlander were taken back in November 2014 and the new model seems to also draw a lot of inspiration from the Outlander PHEV Concept-S which debuted a while ago.
Although the last Outlander was redesigned in 2014, a fresher look is never a bad thing! We might be seeing a more thorough update of the Outlander in a few years, too. In any case, we’re excited to see what Mitsubishi has in store for New York, and we hope you are too!
At the Chicago Auto Show, Don Swearingen, Executive Vice President of Mitsubishi Motors North America, revealed some big news for the Japanese brand. He told us that every 2016 model in the brand’s lineup would get a refresh.
He also told us that the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander would be the first model revealed with its debut scheduled for early April at the New York International Auto Show.
And, according to Autoblog and Mitsubishi’s US PR Manager Alex Fedorak, we may even get the 2016 Outlander PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) in showrooms by April 2016. Fedorak says Mitsubishi is “confident in that date.” This is great news considering the original release date was scheduled for sometime in 2014.
In Chicago, we also got to see the GC-PHEV Concept, which could point to the brand’s future design language and the possible return of the Montero. Perhaps we will get to see that amazing front end design on the new Outlander.
What do you hope to see in an updated 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander in New York?
