Mitsubishi Motors North America was named the
fastest-growing Asian brand in America for the second year in a row, and it’s
easy to see why. At the TU-Automotive Detroit, the world’s largest automotive
technology conference, Mitsubishi received “Telematics OEM of the
Year” for their new Road Assist+ smartphone application.
Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that made notable
advancements in smart vehicle connection technology in the last year were
pitted against one another for the award, and Mitsubishi’s intelligent solution
left the competition in the dust.
Road Assist+ is the first completely hardware-free,
vehicle-independent smartphone software from an OEM that uses telematics to
show owners how they could save money by changing their driving habits. The App
is capable of calculating these figures by taking advantage of usage-based
The system analyzes driving behavior by evaluating UBIs and delivers
user-specific tips on how to avoid negative driving patterns like speeding,
abrupt braking, or rapid acceleration. The ultimate goal is to increase the
overall safety of everybody on the road and to help drivers of Mitsubishi
vehicles lower their insurance rates.
As its name would suggest, Road Assist+ provides users with
24-hour emergency roadside assistance. The award-winning application is
available for download on the Google Play Store as well as the Apple App Store.

The 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander, Mitsubishi’s popular 7-passenger crossover utility vehicle, has been named an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus for the fourth year in a row when equipped with the optional Touring Package.
The IIHS, or Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, is a leading auto safety agency that tests vehicles for crashworthiness in various areas, including small overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints. Ratings of “good” in all five tests are required to be named a Top Safety Pick, while a Top Safety Pick Plus has to earn a rating of “advanced” or “superior” for front crash prevention in addition to “good” crash test ratings.
The new Outlander is competitively priced at $23,495 and includes a wide array of safety features like stability control and tire pressure monitoring at the base level, with active safety features like Forward Collision Mitigation and Pedestrian Detection available at the highest SEL trim, which goes for only $29,495—still much less than competitors.
Mitsubishi North America’s executive vice president and COO said in a statement that the company is “committed to safety and providing the best value for our customers” and went on to say that the Outlander’s safety features have been expanded upon even since the 2016 model year. There’s never been a better time to buy a Mitsubishi Outlander, so make sure to check out Bell Mitsubishi for all of your Outlander needs!
In March of 2015, the Rahway Prevention Coalition was launched after a $625,000 Drug Free Communities Support Grant was awarded to the city to aid in the prevention of drug use and abuse. The coalition serves the community by implementing education opportunities, marketing campaigns, and policy changes to combat drug addiction.
The grant, which was awarded in 2014 and will give $125,000 to the coalition annually over five years, has been proven to reduce youth drug use in other communities, according to data from the White House Office of National Drug Control.
In mid-December, The Rahway Prevention Coalition announced that it will partner with Remax 1st Advantage, a New Jersey-based branch of the expansive real estate company Remax. 1st Advantage agents work in and around Rahway, which encouraged them to bring the coalition to the attention of owner and operator Susan Bakes.
Spearheaded by agent Wendy Christow, Remax 1st Advantage organized the partnership in order to obtain pill pods, which reduce prescription drug theft and use by real estate clients who are viewing homes for sale. Pill pods require a combination to open, preventing people touring the homes from taking homeowners’ pills from their medicine cabinets.
The Prevention Coalition has done fantastic things for the community, and the partnership with Remax will further reduce access to drugs in Rahway and surrounding areas.
In the automotive world, sometimes what starts with a humble beginning becomes the inspiration for innovation and fresh design. Such is the case with the Mitsubishi Outlander, the best selling, most popular vehicle in the Mitsubishi lineup. The Outlander is celebrating having recently hit 1.5 million in sales. These are sales that occurred over three generations of the Outlander, making this crossover the most successful Mitsubishi model.
The Mitsubishi Outlander was first introduced in 2000, and launched in the U.S. in 2001. Mitsubishi marketed it as an “Active Sports Crossover.” This was the first time that the term “crossover” was used to categorize a special type of in-between vehicle. Now that crossovers are on the rise as the fastest-growing type of vehicle in America, it’s clear that the Outlander paved the way for a new era in design and utility.
That was then, with the first generation Mitsubishi Outlander. The third and current generation has become the face of Mitsubishi and continues to lead car design into new territory. The Outlander is known well for its PHEV version, the best selling plug-in hybrid in the world. As Nissan and Mitsubishi move forward in their recent partnership, it’s likely that they will be introducing more in the way of green energy, which is something to look forward to. Though even as Mitsubishi Outlander sales hits 1.5 million and the car evolves into newer generations, it yet keeps the fun, sporty and fresh style that gave the crossovers their inspiration.
If, several years from now, you start to notice that the Nissan cars in your neighborhood look an awful lot like the Mitsubishi cars, refer to this article. For a while there has been some talk of it happening, but now Nissan’s purchase of Mitsubishi is official. The company purchased a 34 percent stake, costing Nissan $2.3 billion. In the end, however, such an investment will be worth it, as Nissan and Mitsubishi begin a promising partnership. This purchase, according to Nissan, also increases their stance as a company. They are now one of the three largest by volume companies in the world.
However, this alliance is not about Nissan taking over. It’s about partnership, including Mitsubishi’s involvement in Nissan’s relationship with Renault. Nissan and Mitsubishi will now share vehicle platforms, technology and manufacturing. And they’ll share some significant team members, too. Current Nissan and Renault CEO, Carlos Ghosn, has been newly appointed as the chairman of the Mitsubishi board. Mitsubishi’s CEO and president, Osamu Masuko, holds his position as the two companies transition.
So what does this mean for fans of Nissan and Mitsubishi? Indeed, the two manufacturers may grow to resemble one another. But hopefully, Nissan’s partnership with Mitsubishi will also make way for Mitsubishi to make a bigger impact on the US market.
Mitsubishi electrified the 2016 Paris Motor Show earlier this month with the most recent of its plug-in electric SUV concept lineup—the Mitsubishi GT-PHEV. Also known as the Grand Tourer concept, this model is a large and luxurious SUV that has an eco-friendly powertrain that is sure to impress with those families looking to go green.
The Mitsubishi GT-PHEV concept styling reflects Mitsubishi’s newest design language. Its Dynamic Shield grille is similar to that of the Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander Sport models, adding a touch of modern sophistication to the model’s silhouette. Its low roofline gives the concept model a couple-lie appearance, while its maroon-colored roof stands out from the rest of its body.
Under the hood, Mitsubishi has combined a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with three electric motors. One of these motors helps the gasoline engine power the front wheels, while the other two are used to drive the rear wheels. By doing this, the GT-PHEV concept has an all-wheel-drive system. This combined powertrain also has a 25-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which gives it enough range for 75 electric-only miles.
This isn’t the first plug-in hybrid vehicle Mitsubishi has introduced to the public. It currently has an Outlander Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) model on sale in Europe, which it is trying to bring to the American market sometime soon.
While there’s no word yet as to whether the GT-PHEV will enter production or not, here’s hoping that the Japanese carmaker brings a more eco-friendly vehicle to the United States.
Fall is a wonderful time of the year in New Jersey. The crisp autumn air harkens the future cold of winter, while the color-changing leaves make it obvious why this great state is nicknamed the Garden State. Because of this, November is a great time of year to enjoy some festivals. Here are a few fall festivals in New Jersey.
The Great Pumpkin Sail (Mountainside): If you have ever wondered what to do with your old jack o’ lantern—besides just throwing it away—then the Great Pumpkin Sale in Mountainside is the perfect post-Halloween tradition for you. On November 1st, you can bring your carved pumpkin to Echo Lake Park and place it on a float in the lake. Then, enjoy some hot cocoa while sitting around a warm campfire, and enjoy the beauty of dozens of pumpkins reflecting off the lake water. It costs $12 to attend for in-county residents and $16 for out-of-county residents.
Exit 0 Jazz Festival (Cape May): Cape May itself is a beautiful beach town to visit during the fall, but the Exit 0 Jazz Festival makes the autumn season even better. Enjoy the jazz talents of musicians like Wynton Marsalis, Cecile McLorin Salvant, and Squirrel Nut Zippers while taking in the picturesque Victorian-style homes of the town. The festival runs from November 11th to November 13th.
Scandinavian Jul Bazzar (Budd Lake): Take in some Scandinavian culture and enjoy the outdoors at the Scandinavian Jul Bazzar at Vasa Park in Bud Lake. This festival, which takes place on November 12th from 10 AM to 3 PM, is free to attend and offers a variety of imported Scandinavian foods, hand-made crafts, beautiful ornaments, and more.
Mitsubishi fans everywhere were disappointed when they learned that availability on the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution would be limited. The good news is that Mitsubishi decided to deal with the last available car in a way that was both fun and good for the community.
The last Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition, of which there were only 1,600, was sold at auction for the highest bidder. A highly collectable car, the Final Edition was the best version of the popular Mitsubishi classic sport compact and many expected the car to go for well over the MSRP. It has an extra 12 horsepower and features upgrades like Bilstein shocks, Eibach springs, and Brembo brakes.
On September 15, the winning bid of $76,400 was placed and the lucky winner drove home with their beautiful Final Edition.
The proceeds went to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank in Orange County and Feeding America in Riverside and San Bernardino.
While it’s unfortunate that we’ll never have the opportunity to purchase one of these cars again, it’s great that the auction went off without a hitch and that so many people will be able to benefit from this fun event.
As one of the most popular vehicles that Mitsubishi has to offer, many people are curious about what they can expect to see from the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. While the 2016 was a great vehicle in its own right, the new model took it to the next level. Here’s how.
The first 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport change people will notice is the redesigned exterior. Mitsubishi gave the Outlander Sport a makeover and as a result, this year’s model looks very sleek and modern. As part of this makeover, the Outlander Sport received a new grille, a new bumper, and new 18-inch wheels.
On the inside, drivers will find that there is a new steering wheel and that Mitsubishi has added an automatic climate control system. Tech lovers will enjoy the new 6.1-inch color display system on the console. Mitsubishi also changed the materials that they used on the interior to improve the look and feel of the finish.
The new 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is in a crowded market with a lot of competition, but the new touches that it added to this year’s model prepare it well to compete with every other vehicle in its class.
